Gotham Under Fire 2.0

Batman is in his fifth year of crime-fighting. In that time he has faced invulnerable mobsters, grinning psychopaths and even cuckoo men with condiment weaponry. Gotham City has been through a lot in its years, even being assigned the title "America's Worst City" at one point, but it has never been deeper in the cesspool than now. Crime is rampant, people are dying and only the Bat Family can put an end to the most recent wave of terror in Gotham.

This is a little, fun-based RPG. Nearly anything goes, as long as it's fun!

Rules:
- You can play up to three characters at a time, though it is not recommended.
- As obvious as it is, you cannot choose a character whom someone else is currently playing.
- You cannot do anything to another's character without their consent - killing them, maiming them, etc.
- All OOC chatter must be kept to spoiler tags as to not distract from the roleplaying.

Deaths: Allowed, with consent from both players.
Resurrections: One is allowed. It is recommended that it is to make some sense and not for the hell of it, too.
Last Minute Death Escapes: Unlimited, as long as it makes sense.

It was very uncommon for the Batman to be seen during daylight hours - criminals feared the notorious creature of the night for good reason. So when two low-level criminals found themselves running blindly through an alley with the Dark Knight himself in hot pursuit during the early hours after noon, they were almost as confused as they were scared.

They had been snooping around outside a building in which a press conference was being held, eager for some cash. Cash they would acquire from selling some stolen goods, and stolen good they would acquire from the conference car park. Although out in broad daylight outside a decently populated area, the two experienced carjackers would find the job easy enough. Exactly as they had hoped, the raid went off without a hitch. Or, that was until the two, making off with a good deal of miscellaneous jewelry and the like from the cars they'd jacked, decided to take their escape route through some tight buildings, when everything went downhill. Batman showed and the two were forced to flee.

Philanthropist and well-known socialite Bruce Wayne had been attending that very press conference in the open-aired building across from the car park. Things were running well, if admittedly boring. Casting a chance eye outside he had noticed two men acting peculiarly out there - perhaps not too odd a site in Gotham City, however. Though, after a few more seconds of careful site, he had realized his suspicions were well-based as he caught eye of the two otherwise normal men taking off with a concealed bag of loot. Another few seconds had passed and then Bruce Wayne had been forced to reluctantly exit the conference room to take a business call.

Another minute or so and the Batman was onto them.

The larger of the two carjackers was finding himself losing ground in the chase, with his friend pulling off ahead. He was out of breath and out of luck. His partner, who was already a large distance ahead, risking a glance backwards, only to catch a glimpse of the dark figure fall from the roofs over top and cloak the man in darkness. He was panting loudly while he turned the next corner. Just as he did, a scream sounded out from back down the alley. There was no hope for his partner now.

Terrified and almost out of breath himself, the lone now lone carjacker used the last of his energy to propel himself through the nearest wooden door. He fell through the splinters, his hand still vice-like around his loot bag. He forced himself up instantly and begged his breath to quieten and heart to stop. Silence. Chilling silence. Nothing - not even the few cars out on the road or the birds above - dared make a noise. The sound of his own, painfully slow footsteps were the only sound and he crept back into the room. It was a workshop of some kind, dimly lit. Though he didn't care. All he wanted was to escape the Bat.

What the hell?! The man tumbled backwards, losing his footing and landing heavily on the equipment he had stumbled over. The noise against the silence was deafening and he felt like cursing his lungs out. The hysteria in his mind told him not to. It almost paralyzed him right there on the ground. He had to force his arms into a position as to upright himself again.

Then, a silent curse. Further paralysis. Ice slid down the man's face and into a sharp pool on the floor. No. A black cape was before him, blowing ever-so-softly in the slight draft from the open door.

It took an entire three seconds for the man to dare lift his head and look into the eyes of the stoic figure.

"I'm Batman."

Freeze held a crystal ball tight in his hands. Snow fell down as a woman danced in the crystal ball. The woman's name was Nora. Freeze looked down in sadness. The ice man's head rose up and Freeze crushed the crystal ball with his hands. Victor turned around. Behind him stood a statue of the Batman. Mr. Freeze aimed his gun at the figure.

''CHILL, Batman.'' Freeze said as he pressed the icy trigger.

The Joker was busy standing around in a Mc Donalds, wearing another suit as usual, but with oversized orange pompoms as buttons, hands in pockets of trousers equally purple as the suit, unnoticed by the cashier at first, but after a minute the Joker stepped towards the bar in order to order some good food, with three thugs standing around, making sure everybody who is nobody gets hurt. The place looked like any other extra cheap fast food joint of its kind, but devoid of customers for some reason. The cashier had been busy picking his left nostril for the past few minutes, not thinking about anything in particular.

"Oh hi there! I would like to buy something from this burg if you don't mind." The Joker said, in a vaguely jovial tone.

The man's mouth fell open as he realized a clown had stepped into the place in order to actually purchase something from the bad selection of stuff passed off as food here. It took a minute, but the youngish man then stopped staring at the Joker's skeleton white face, so trying to straighten up in order to do his job correctly, he removed his finger from his nose, and assuming a polite but nasally accent asked what the customer was placing an order for. He'd been on some drugs earlier, and because of this wasn't able to think straight. He thought that he was probably just seeing things, so he tried to stay level.

"What.. what would you for, for your order, have, for you have your order?" The man asked.

"I don't even know, you can't ask. Get rid of him, boys. It's time for me to run this joint the way it's cracked up to be." The Joker said, waving an aside towards him.

Two of the men all reached over the counter and took away the clerk without much of a struggle while the third jumped over it to search for the other workers and dispose of them properly, and then the Joker after received his cap, pausing to put it on correctly, the first two men dragged the clerk out of the building and somewhere out into the parking lot. The Joker stood there, gloved hands resting on the bar, waiting for customers to come in and take some orders.

Freeze looked at the statue of Batman. It was completely covered with ice. ''It's so cold it burns.'' Freeze muttered with a grin.

Victor headed to the door. It was time to bring destruction to this city. Victor twisted the cold,steel door knob and entered the streets of Gotham. People already started screaming before Freeze even aimed his gun.

Victor slowly walked past buildings until he spotted a jewelry store. The icy man punched through the glass and grabbed as much jewelry as possible. The police sirens already started to echo through the streets. Freeze shot out a pathway full of ice out of his gun. Victor hopped on the icy trail and he started to slide down the slippery ice. Every time the path ends, Freeze would shoot out some more ice. The ice trail was spread all over Gotham. Freeze made a smooth escape from the cops.

Victor continued sliding around the city with his frosty suit to look for Gotham's savior.
